Bandar Lampung - The Coordinating Vice Chairman for Organization and Legal Affairs of the Lampung Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), Romi Junanto Utama, expressed strong optimism about the future of Lampung’s economy. He believes that the shift in regional leadership style from a bureaucratic approach to an entrepreneurial one has become the key driver of the region’s progress.
Romi conveyed this view during the Lampung Post Executive Forum held at Hotel Emersia, Bandar Lampung, on Tuesday (April 14, 2026).
At the forum, Romi—representing the Chairman of Kadin Lampung Province, Muhammad Kadafi—outlined factors that have long hindered regional economic growth. He explained that historically and culturally, Lampung has been positioned as a supporting region for the agricultural sector when Java faced land constraints. However, he noted that this significant potential has not been matched by previous leadership approaches.
“Since its early establishment, Lampung has been managed with a bureaucratic mindset. Many officials carried out their duties without a strong drive for innovation or a close connection to the region,” Romi said.
Romi emphasized that this situation is now changing. He observed that current leadership prioritizes a proactive and collaborative approach, creating substantial opportunities to accelerate economic development.
“This is the momentum for Lampung’s economy to grow. Today’s leadership encourages real performance, not merely fulfilling obligations. Therefore, there is no reason for Lampung not to move forward,” he concluded.
