MSME Players and Workers Must Anticipate Digital Development with Qualified Skills

Not only creating new businesses, climate change and ever-changing digital technology will destroy old businesses. While entrepreneurs are busy seizing opportunities and trying to maintain old businesses, the direct impact will be felt by old business workers, whether they are liquidated or learn new things.

Kadin Indonesia, represented by Masbukhin, Chairman of the Committee for the Cooperation of Ministries/Institutions & Industries together with delegates from the Ministry of Manpower, Apindo, Trade Unions and representatives of Asia-Pacific countries such as Japan, India, Malaysia, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam and Bangladesh attended the training held by the ITC (ILO International Labour Organization Training Center), entitled "Skills Development and Responsible Business Conduct with ILO" on 26-29 March 2024.

The training focuses on enhancing the quality of the participants to effectively advise organisations and companies on issues related to business, human rights and HR skills development. The training will provide guidance for implementation and dialogue at the country level taking into account the different roles of governments, employers and workers' organisations.

"By incorporating skills development and Life Long Learning (LLL) into corporate sustainability strategies based on the concept of Responsible Business Conduct (RBC), companies can better improve their resilience, productivity and competitiveness," Masbukhin said.

To carry out transformation, he continued, requires large resources and funds, making the leaders of transformation are large companies. However, this does not mean that MSMEs cannot lead.

"Of course they can as long as the resources are strong, at least the way of thinking must be understandable. The function of large companies is to be able to guide MSME partner companies to be involved in the big flow of change, including in preparing training for their employees, not just a formality, but a massive movement and totality," he concluded.
