Jakarta – Chairperson of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin Indonesia), Anindya Novyan Bakrie, along with members of the executive board, held an audience meeting with Indonesia’s Minister of Environment/Head of the Environmental Control Agency, Mohammad Jumhur Hidayat, at the office of the Ministry of Environment/Environmental Control Agency (KLH/BPLH) in South Jakarta on Wednesday (13/05/2026).
The meeting discussed strengthening collaboration between the business sector and the government in advancing sustainable development, including the development of green jobs, green downstream industrialization, and a just energy transition.
Following the meeting, Anindya Novyan Bakrie, popularly known as Anin, stated that value-added industrialization based on green principles could create green employment opportunities while strengthening national energy resilience.
“We discussed how environmental sustainability has now become a key factor in developing businesses amid global uncertainty. Why? Because if we can build value-added and environmentally friendly industrialization, it can increase green jobs while supporting the government’s energy resilience program,” said Anin.
Anin added that Kadin Indonesia and KLH/BPLH share a common vision regarding economic growth that continues to prioritize environmental sustainability for future generations.
On the occasion, he further noted that both parties also explored potential cooperation related to the just energy transition and the establishment of a green jobs task force within Kadin Indonesia.
“We are very enthusiastic because the Minister has a comprehensive background. He has a strong understanding of environmental issues, extensive industrialization experience, significant technological expertise, and also understands labor-related matters. Our discussion was highly constructive,” he said.
Meanwhile, Minister of Environment/Head of the Environmental Control Agency Mohammad Jumhur Hidayat welcomed Kadin Indonesia’s commitment to strengthening awareness and understanding of environmental issues.
“I am pleased to see Kadin taking progressive steps in environmental awareness, and it aligns closely with our mission. There are many possibilities for future collaboration, especially regarding green jobs and the just energy transition,” said Jumhur.
He also expressed appreciation for Kadin’s attention to developing value-added industries while maintaining compliance with environmental standards.
“In developing value-added industries, environmental compliance is also being prepared. I think that is very positive. It means that in the future our civilization can advance because before working and seeking profit, we are also preparing ourselves to preserve the environment,” he remarked.
According to Jumhur, the spirit of protecting and honoring the earth can serve as a unifying force across generations, business sectors, and communities.
“There is no other determination capable of uniting people across activities, generations, intellectual backgrounds, businesses, ethnicities, and religions, except the determination to honor and preserve the earth,” he concluded.
Also present at the meeting were Coordinating Vice Chairperson for Investment, Downstream Industry, Energy, and Environment at Kadin Indonesia Bobby Gafur Umar, Coordinating Vice Chairperson for Social Affairs at Kadin Indonesia Nita Yudi, and Head of Kadin Indonesia’s Mutual Cooperation Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) Task Force Chandra Tirta Wijaya.
